Medical Assistant/Medical Billing & Coding This program is geared towards those individuals who prefer patient contact in a clinic or hospital setting. A Medical Assistant is responsible for the needs of the patient, as well as those of the doctor. They are assuming more roles and responsibility in patient care. They are in high demand and have the option to further their education in the areas of practical & registered nursing. Their duties include EKG's, injection procedures, patient intake, insurance procedures, phone contact, and in X-rays.
Medical Billing & Coding provides you with the skills to function in the capacity of a Medical Biller with the knowledge of ICD-9-CM coding, CPT and reimbursement procedures. Students will use our Medisoft Software to acquire the experience of generating reports for patient day sheets, and coding procedures. The program gives a specific and an indepth study of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, medical law & ethics, administrative procedures, ICD-9/CM and CPT coding procedures, universal precautions, and health insurance.
After completion of the program those with a high school Diploma or a GED will be eligible to sit for the certification exam. Those without a high school Diploma or a GED will still be able to function as a Medical Assistant in various areas. You have one year after completion of the program to become certified.
